Overview of the Litigation

DC Law Collective, along with co-counsel Sligo Law Group and Lawyers for Good Government, has filed a federal district court action challenging mass Reduction in Force (“RIF”) separations affecting career federal employees across multiple agencies.

This case involves a coordinated wave of terminations that ended long-standing federal careers almost overnight. Employees lost their pay, their health insurance, and their professional standing, often with little warning and no real chance to respond. They were publicly portrayed as political actors or as having engaged in misconduct, without ever being given a forum to defend themselves.

The case asks whether labeling these actions as “RIFs” can shield the government from accountability for destroying careers and reputations.

Why This Case Matters

  • The plaintiffs are career civil servants, not political appointees
  • Each plaintiff brings individual claims based on how these terminations were carried out
  • The case focuses on accountability for the actions taken against these employees, rather than abstract policy disputes
  • The relief sought is directed at addressing the concrete harms suffered by the named plaintiffs
